Week 14: 2nd Trimester Begins

I'm sleeping better, I'm no longer nauseous and I've officially hit the 2nd trimester. This is referred to as the "Golden Trimester" because its the easiest time during pregnancy. This seems to be the case for me. I've never felt better.

I go to my second Doctor's Appointment. Its pretty basic, I get weighed (I've gained 3lbs), my blood pressure is checked, yadda yadda. Best part: I hear the baby's heartbeat again. Dave is there too and he has this look of wonder. We agree that Newbie's hearbeat is a really cool sound.

Everyone says I'm going to have a boy, except my childhood friend Erin. She started having dreams I was pregnant back in October and thinks I may have a girl. All I want is a healthy baby.

Also, now that everyone knows I'm pregnant..I'm eating crow all over the place. I've been told I owe money, alcohol, and a grilled cheese sandwich over my losing long-standing bets regarding if I would ever have kids.

Weeks 12-13: Telling Work

Here I am...I just started my new job as a web librarian (I mean, its my first week), and I have to tell my new boss that I'm bloody pregnant. I accepted this job the day before I found out I was expecting. Finally, I just pulled my boss aside and asked for a few moments and I just blurted the news. I'm glad its out in the open.

Within a few days, everyone in my 300+ organization knew (word travels fast). I'm lucky, my employer and my colleagues are very supportive.

Weeks 10-11: Telling Family

Now I'm feeling pregnant. I'm mildly nauseated every evening. It doesn't get too bad. I just feel off...like I'm about to get sick. I'm lucky, as I've heard other women can get extremely sick. I hate the smell of coffee and the thought of eating turkey grosses me out (which isn't good timing since its almost Thanksgiving).

I've developed a wicked case of insomnia. I go to bed at a normal time, and wake up every night at 3am. Then I cannot go back to sleep (cuz I'm going to the bathroom 1-2 times a night). Its worse than morning sickness.

Telling Family: I think we shocked everyone. We had both stated that we were definitely NOT having kids, so nobody was expecting this news. There were dropped jaws, swearing, crying, and some pretty crazy reactions. Its too bad I didn't have a digital camera to capture these moments....
